Aloha-ey, Aloha-ey, can you envision the hula dancers and hear the waves crashing in the distance?  Today’s Sauce takes you to the island of Oahu and the new Waikiki Edition Hotel.  This is the first collaboration between Marriot and Ian Schrager in a boutique hotel brand.  Located in the Ilikai building a few minutes from the beach, the hotel has one pool in the center of the property and a private beach for your sunning and swimming pleasure.  The hotel is also within walking distance to the famed “Surfers Beach.”

Basically you are in Hawaii, so expect the freshest fish and vegetables imaginable!

The Edition even offers “Surf and Bikini Boot Camps” to firm up while you are on vacation.  The specialized trainers will design a program just for you! It might sound like torture, but Imagine going on vacation and coming home looking better, feeling healthier and pounds lighter!

What really gets me though is the restaurant; helmed by master chef Masaharu Morimoto (most know him as an Iron Chef on the Food Network).  The menu is contemporary Japanese with a mix of Western influences.  Basically you are in Hawaii, so expect the freshest fish and vegetables imaginable!  Not sure what to do after dinner?  Check out the club “Crazybox” for a few drinks and then head over to the outdoor movie theater (COOL!) and check out first run movies, videos and art installations.

Here is a little tidbit: Make sure you check out the lobby installation made from more than 100 broken surfboard bits belonging to pipeline superstar Kelly Slater and other surfers, mounted above a custom-made reception desk.  They also have IPods and IPads for use while on the property.  Oh, and have a Mai Tai or three for me.
