Alcohol is a known diuretic, and frequent trips to the ladies will leave your body feeling depleted. Re-hydrating is key, but beyond hydrating, hydrating, hydrating (if you can remember to down 20 oz water before you hit the bed…it will save your life), what’s a busy bee to do?
Everyone has their own remedy, but here are a few tips that will certainly help you leave the hive.
Ginger Ale
If you can’t stomach all that water—sometimes it’s just too difficult—try ginger ale. Ginger is known to relieve nausea and will settle your stomach.
Wet Washcloth
Just like mom used to make. Lie in a dark room with a cool compress on your pounding head. It may not help your stomach but it will alleviate some of the throbbing.
Lady Lavender
Take a cue from Kate Middleton, who reportedly snacked on lavender biscuits to cure her pregnancy nausea. If it’s good for the gander, it might work for you. Lavender is said to have healing properties, and it’s soothing smell may help relieve some of that spinning.
Carbo Load
We know you aren’t training for a marathon, but eating carbohydrates can help bring your blood sugar back to normal and settle the roller coaster ride in your stomach. If you can stomach a banana, you should munch one down. Your body craves the potassium it lost the night prior.
Lytes for Life
You hear it time and again, and some folks use it when the are bugged down with the flu, but Pedialyte has a ton of electrolytes. Same goes for coconut water–it’s brimming with electrolytes and has more potassium than two bananas. Comes in a Bottle
And if you want to pop a pill, stick to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and ibuprofen and avoid the acetaminophen’s like Tylenol. Tylenol can have serious and damaging effects on your liver.
