It’s hard enough after a long day at the office, but it’s even harder on business trips, when you feel the exhaustion of jet lag, long hours, and late night emails. And on vacations when you feel like, hey this is my time…time to indulge! We tend to make up a lot of excuses—a la I’d rather pack high heels than running shoes.
Beyond that, eating healthy at the airport is like trying to find a feather on the housecat. There are few choice options and when you’re in a rush, it’s hard to make health the priority.
24-hour gyms are nothing revolutionary, but hotels and airports alike are making it easier to keep on track and cater to health-conscious travelers.
No time? Even Hotels claim that “travel can be healthier”. This means they’re making working out so accessible, it’s staring you in the face from bed. Coat racks double as pull-up bar, luggage benches convert to exercise benches, and rooms have enough floor space and come equipped with yoga mats.
No Shoes? This is always my first go-to excuse. Well, thanks to Westin Hotels and Resorts, I’ve run out of them. They’ve kicked-off their New Balance Gear Lending Program, that allows guests to rent workout clothes and shoes with disposable insoles. Just five bucks and they will deliver to your room. That’s less than most hotels charge for water.
Ok, but really NO time? DWF International Airport has a hankering for more than just bbq;its goal is to be the healthiest airport in the nation. What does that mean for you? There is a new walking path in Terminal D that’s a hearty seven-tenths of a mile. Light at the end of the path… near Gate D40 is the yoga studio.
