Our big family plan for this week was to have a picnic. The old fashioned kind with a basket, games of frisbee, and everyone laughing having a great time. We loaded our basket with sandwiches, carrots, grapes, Clementine’s, strawberries and all the ingredients for some s’mores. It was going to be a fantastic afternoon. Then, wouldn’t you know it, an hour before we set off on our adventure nature decided to have an epic downpour.
Two very disappointed kids resorted to staring out the window crying that our picnic was ruined. In an effort to promote flexibility in life we decided to picnic inside. We pushed all the furniture aside, placed down out picnic blanket and basket and ate on the living room floor. Instead of Frisbee, we played “Eye-Spy” and “Chutes and Ladders.” It wasn’t the dream picnic that I had envisioned, but we had fun as a family just the same. And that really was the whole point anyway. Perhaps the sun will come out tomorrow, we can try again!
