Listen up fashionistas, you may still be lounging around in your bikini, but fall is right around the corner! Let’s check out what fall fashion trends are hot for 2013.
50 Shades of Gray – Gray is soooo in this fall. As a perfect neutral alternative to black, gray is easy to layer and match with the rich jewel-tones of the season. From deep charcoal to light heather gray, this subdued color complements every skin tone.
Colorblocking – This spring trend is sticking around to stay throughout the fall, albeit with more muted colors.
The Lady Tux – Menswear-inspired women’s clothes have been hot for quite a few years now, so it’s no surprise that the tuxedo is making a reappearance in a decidedly more feminine silhouette.
Urban Edge – Think leather, harsh lines and black. Leather is everywhere this fall from tops to pants to skirts to jackets.
Boxy Outerwear – Hello, generously cut jacket and coats. The boxy look may not be the most flattering on all, but it certainly is comfortable! Pair with sleek tights or pants to avoid looking too shapeless.
Peplum – Here’s a trend that’s not going anywhere. This fall you’ll find peplum accents on everything from jackets to dresses to blouses. The flounce adds a nice touch of femininity to any outfit, but make sure to balance it with a streamlined bottom to avoid looking out of proportion.
Velvet Dresses – This Victorian trend of old is making a comeback. Lush velvet drapes to make ethereal dresses this season. Just be careful, a lot of velvet is sure to overpower a petite frame and may just be too much on the eyes by itself. And don’t be surprised if people start cozying up to you as a nice soft pillow!
Fur, Fur and More Fur – If you’re an PETA-card carrying animal lover, look away. Fur (and its cousin, feathers) is everywhere this fall. From vests to jackets to boots
Shine On – Metallic accents are everywhere. The shinier, the better. Think pencil dresses done completely in space-age fabric, or metallic trim around your jacket. Not for the faint of heart, this trend draws attention where it wants to be drawn.
