Parents have a difficult time watching a child being bullied. But what can they do?
Here are suggestions from stopbullying.gov:
- Focus on your child’s experience and listen to what he or she has to say. Find out more about the bullying, and make sure your child understands that you are there to help.
- Offer reassurance that your child did nothing to deserve bullying.
- Remember that it can be tough for kids to talk about being bullied. If your child won’t open up to you, suggest that the child see a counselor at school.
- Come up with a plan together to help your child feel safer.
