Before you give your child any medication — including one that’s over-the-counter — talk to the doctor, nurse or pharmacist who recommended it.
The American Academy of Family Physicians suggests you ask:
- Why the medication is recommended, and what impact it might have on your child’s symptoms.
- How much you should give, and how often.
- If there are any potential side effects.
- Any activities or foods that your child should avoid while taking the drug.
