You don’t have to scrimp on nutritious foods to eat well on a budget.
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases suggests:
- Shop for meat in bulk. Once home, divide into single servings and freeze them.
- Browse the local farmer’s market for in-season produce. It’s fresher and less expensive, but don’t buy more than you can eat.
- Don’t eat more than the suggested serving size on a package of food. You’ll stretch your meals and limit calories, fat, sodium and sugar.
