An eyebrow can dramatically shape a face.  Too much or too little and your face is in dangerous territory.  Plucking is fine.  Waxing works too.  But threading, a technique that originated in India and used in the Middle East, has made its move on the female American public.

The way it works is simple. It involves twisting a piece of cotton thread into a double strand.   The double thread is then used to pick up a hair and remove it.  It’s a relatively painless process, and it creates a crisp, precise line.  You can have that perfectly arched brow in no time.

It requires no chemical ingredients or sticky waxes.  You can also thread just about any other part of your face.  Many women thread their upper lip.  The hair grows back finer and less noticeable.  Any spot you choose, threading creates a smooth and noticeable difference.

Unlike plucking it’s best to have a professional work their threading magic. One of the best places in Los Angeles is The Thread Bar on Westwood Blvd.  It’s a little bit hidden, up some stairs and tucked in a corner, but don’t judge a book by its cover.  The place is an eyebrow godsend and the girls who work there really know what they’re doing.

You can’t make an appointment, they take cash only, and sometimes there is a line out the door.  But it is absolutely worth it.  They can shape even the most wayward eyebrows back into fighting form.  They can tell you what to stop plucking too so you can have the arch you always imagined.  Plus it is utterly inexpensive. 7 dollars for your brows.  And because hair is removed at the follicle, depending on preference, you only have to go in about once every two to three weeks.
