I shudder to think that I am the only one with the problem of keeping my house as clean as it should be.  I am a stay at home mom of two with the third on the way.  I always assumed it was part of my job description to “keep the house.”  Yet, this is something I continually lag on.  Sometimes I just don’t have the time, I put a priority on playing with the kids, reading to them, and you know parenting.  Other times, I’m just too tired.

What have I learned in my short stint as a mother?  The laundry will still be there tomorrow.  Granted it’s easier to keep up with it and not get behind, but sometimes I need a break!  That being said, I do my best to keep up on certain things to keep my sanity.

Laundry, as often as I can stand I start a load before I go to bed.  Then I switch it to the dryer when I wake up.  One load a day is totally doable.  Dishes, dishes are a must for me.  I cannot handle a dirty kitchen.  Big Daddy and I have done our best to teach our four year old how to pick up her dishes and load them into the dishwasher.

We also encourage a chore chart.  Each day that Ladybug does a chore (without me asking her to do it) she gets a sticker on a calendar, at the end of the month she gets two dollars for each week that is completely filled with stickers.  Then we take her shopping.  Usually she gets herself an ice cream, or something similar.  Her duties include, dusting, vacuuming her room, keeping her room clean, and on occasion sweeping the kitchen.

Start small, and remember you’re not alone.
