Doctors call a scratch on your eye a “corneal abrasion.”

It’s important to see your doctor if you have any of these possible warning signs, provided by the American Academy of Family Physicians:

  • Pain in your eye.
  • A gritty feeling, as if you had sand in your eye.
  • Blurry vision.
  • More tears than usual.
  • Redness of the eye.
  • Sensitivity to light.
