Unbeknownst to the heat wave sweeping all nooks and crannies of the country, we are less than a month away from the onset of fall.

September 22nd is the official start of the autumnal season and all the skin baring outfits of summer will soon be covered by the comfy and sometimes slouchy, layered knits of fall.

Rest assured however, you can transition with ease with the help of a few key pieces.

The Burnt Orange Blazer

Rebecca Minkoff nearly sold out of her Becky Blazer in Burnt Orange, and there’s no reason that this piece (whether you already have it or are on the hunt) can’t transition easily.  Its colors will match the falling leaves.  Try this Structured version from Top Shop.

The Lightweight Trouser

Fall can still bring lots of hot days, but if you’re itching to ditch the jean shorts and put on your fancy pants, a good lightweight pant is key. The Typeset Trouser have an easy fit, uniformed by seasonal trends.

The Slouchy Sweater

You need at least one cashmere sweater in your slouchy arsenal this fall.  It’s a way to dress up the slouch.  Available in a bevy of colors, the Collection Cashmere Isabel sweater will do the trick.

The Basic Black Dress

The Viscose Long Scoop Back Dress, does exactly what it’s name implies: it scoops low in the back, which not only means it can transition from day, with a simple sandal, to night with a great boot, but it is such a staple that it really can go from season to season without fail.

The Classic Catch-All Bag

During the summer, bags have certain ease to them, but in the fall—sophisticated bags that can fit sweaters replace smaller summer totes. Try this classic and versatile Colorblock Leather Candace Medium Carryall.
