I scream, you scream, we all scream for…a healthy alternative to ice cream!

Alright, it doesn’t flow as well as the original, I agree. However, healthy alternatives are still worth screaming for! One of my favorite things to make in the summer months are homemade fruit pops – healthy, DIY popsicles that provide you with your daily serving of fruits, and still satisfy your craving for something sweet.

The great thing about these fruit pops is that they are easy to make, and they’re versatile – you can blend any combination of fruits to make your perfect flavor, and you can add different layers by including fruit slices as well.
Another plus – it’s is a great way to make use of fruit that is on the cusp of expiration.

Grab your blender, and a popsicle mold (empty yogurt containers or dixie cups work great) – here are some suggestions for making your own fruit pops!

*Want your Fruit Pop to be 100% fruit? Process your fruit in a food processor or blender until thick and pourable. Yes, it really is that easy.

*Fruit Pops can be a blend of fruit and juice as well. Pour Apple juice or White grape juice into your popsicle mold, and add sliced fruit. I like strawberries and kiwis, because the gorgeous contrast in colors makes them Pinterest worthy!

* If you want to sweeten your pops without sugars or artificial sweeteners,  add a little bit of honey to the mix!

Once you have your fruit pop blend, add it to the empty popsicle molds and freeze for at least 8 hours. If the fruit mixture is too soft to hold the stick firmly at first, freeze your pops about a third of the way through, then add your stick.
